Systemic therapy
for metastatic cancer
Systemic therapy

In the case of existing oncolytic viruses, the intravenous (IV) injection is a desirable approach to reach metastatic disease, but if given systemically the virus is usually neutralized by antibodies or complement proteins in the blood. However, in the intratumoral injection method, the viruses are injected directly into the cancer, and therefore, not being able to reach metastatic sites.

In order to make IV delivery of our drugs possible, we developed a system to avoid neutralization by the immune response, by adding a specific serum protein binding domain into the adenovirus gene. This way, the adenovirus expresses the domain on its surface and preventing the recognition by the immune system.
